Prof. Dr. Mesut Hakkı CAŞIN was born in Izmir in 1956. He completed his primary, secondary and high school education in Izmir. He continued his academic education at Istanbul University Faculty of Law (Bachelor's Degree 1983), Gazi University Public Law (Master's Degree 1986), Texas San Antonio College with American Constitutional Law and completed his PhD (1994) at Istanbul University Faculty of Political Sciences on "International Security Strategies and Disarmament". In addition to serving as Vice President of Yeditepe University's Center for Strategic Studies, he is admitted to the International Law and Space Law Section of the American Bar Association. Prof. CAŞIN has served in different bases of the Turkish Air Force. In 1988, he was trained in the USAF's F-16 fighter aircraft project at Lackland Air Base in Texas, Lowry Air Base in Colorado, Sheppard Air Base in Dallas, and Homestead Air Base in Miami. In 1999, he retired from the position of International Treaties Investigation Officer at the Turkish General Staff's Directorate of Plans and Principles. He became an associate professor in 2002 with his book "Russian Imperial Strategy" and a full professor in 2008 with his book "International Terrorism". He has served on the editorial boards of Perception, Geopolitik and MSI journals and has written on foreign policy for magazines and newspapers in Turkey. He is a member of the US Bar Association, Istanbul Bar Association and TÜDAV. He has published books and articles on International Law, Energy Law, Russia, Black Sea, European Union, International Terrorism, Turkish Straits, Cyber Security, Disarmament, NATO, International Security Strategies, History of Warfare. Some of these books are ''International Security Strategies and Disarmament'', ''Cyber Security Policies and Critical Infrastructure Protection'', ''Fundamentals of Modern International Law'', ''International Treaty Law'', ''European Union Energy Law and Security Perceptions'', ''European Union Defense and Foreign Policy'', ''Political and Economic Foundations of the European Union'', ''Russian Imperial Strategy'', '' Changes in Russian Foreign Policy and New Horizons from the Kremlin Window", ''Azerbaijan-Armenia Conflict in the Caucasus: The Conflict-Peace Pendulum'', '' Russia's Foreign Policy towards the Baltic States: Cooperation or Conflict?", "International Terrorism", "Political History", "History of World War II". He has taught undergraduate, graduate and doctoral courses in international law and international relations at Gazi University Faculty of Law, Sabancı University, Yeditepe University, Özyeğin University Faculty of Law, Istinye University, Air Force Academy, National Defense University. Prof. CAŞIN is a member of the Presidential Security and Foreign Policy Council. He is married and has three children.
